Garage Sales and Credit Card Readers

Square Credit Card Reader
I want to have a garage sale! Is this odd? I hope not. I think we've accumulated a lot over the years. Also, I found an inexpensive card swiper for smart phones. What a great idea! I will be looking into this as an option for the future. It would certainly simplify business transactions, large and small!
Has anyone else ever used this? I was only able to find one review on Amazon.com

Magical Monday

No, Mondays are usually very magical. Today is a special day though because I'm off from work! Where do I work? I thought you might ask that question! I work at a children's apparel store and at a nationally recognized retailer. Both jobs have their perks. I get to find GREAT deals for my daughter and even some great stuff for me, my husband, and our home. At work yesterday, I found a dress for A that was marked under $6 and a very cute jacket for myself. With the current coupon available, everything will be about $12. Of course I also have an employee discount, so I'll save even more than that. Because A loves dresses, this is a great deal. The girl will.not. wear pants without throwing a huge fight, so any dress I can find that costs less than $6 (before discounts and coupons) is a good deal for me.
Today I've made some frozen yogurt bites from some strawberry Yoplait I had in the refrigerator. It was very simple to make. A and I can hardly wait the hour for them to freeze! I'll update this post with pictures as soon as they're fulled chilled. I know A will love them.
Have you done anything fun with your little one or maybe scored some great deals while shopping? Tell me about them!

Frugal Fun Friday

Yesterday I decided to take A with me to a work charity function. It was for a book sale through a local elementary, and I thought A would fit right in. Although she had fun, we were only able to stay for an hour. Walking past the table I will affectionately refer to as the "junk table" (filled with all manners of erasers, pencils, pens, cars, key chains, bookmarks, etc.) A found a "pointer". And she went crazy. She HAD TO HAVE THAT POINTER, and at $3.99, I was NOT going to give in and buy it for her. I mean, all out fit of rage. I took her outside, put her in the car, and she started to calm down. Because she was good the rest of the way home and during our grocery trip, we went to the dollar store where I got her a package of pipe cleaners. This made her SO HAPPY. I gave her one for the short drive home, and she started calling it her "porner". (Yes, poor word choice. I'll just enunciate a little better when referring to it in the future.)
Once home, I cut a few of the pipe cleaners into pieces. We talked about the colors, and making shapes, and practiced putting them into a colander. That $1 pack of pipe cleaners was a lot of fun for A, and for me!
Once I run out of oatmeal, I plan to use the canister as a "sorter" for the pipe cleaners. I'll punch holes in the top and put a band of color around each hole, corresponding to each color of pipe cleaner. That way, A can sort by colors, or just have fun pushing the pipe cleaners through the holes and into a CONTAINED space. (My floor currently looks like I had a party...and I did not.)

So that's my frugal fun for the day. What kind of things do you like to do with your kids that's inexpensive, fun, and maybe even educational?

About Me

My name is Joanna and this isn't the blog address I wanted.
Apparently another Joanna stole mine about 10 years ago. Feel free to go say hi.

Anyway, I am currently 25 years old. I'm married and my husband and I have a little girl, A. She's very silly and keeps my young (because I'm so old.) I think I'm funny (usually not), but I am successfully sarcastic. I'll try to keep my sarcastic remarks in a different font. I'll be blogging about anything and everything. I've tried having theme specific blogs, but I realized that doesn't work well for me.
Aside from Mom stuff, I'll be address topics like animals, organic stuff, gardening, couponing, random stuff, smutty books, being a messy housewife, frugality, and my attempts to be healthy. I may also follow some popular memes and do a giveaway from time to time!
